Week 2 Reflection
As I look back and read throughout this article and video, I believe that one of the reasons Randy Pausch was able to achieve his dream was because he followed his passion. He was able to graduate from college and start a company that helps artists and engineers work together. Following your passion is one of the many ways that can help you to accomplish your dreams, but you can't do it alone. You need mentors who will help provide you with guidance as you pursue your dream. As Randy became dedicated/, motivated towards his goals, he was able to accomplish many of his childhood dreams.
As I think about it, I believe that dreaming is indeed important. I often like to think of dreaming as another form of ambition or drive. When we have a desire to dream about things that we feel are important to us, it pushes us to find ways to accomplish them. An example of this would fall into the church word of revelation, and how it changed the life of Joseph Smith and the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints forever. Through modern revelation, or dreams, it helps us to find ways to accomplish our main goal/ purpose in life.
One of my childhood dreams that I find to be very special is my desire to teach seminary. I’ve loved doing it ever since I was in high school, and I loved how it brought me closer to the Savior. I believe that I can still do it despite my hearing loss and ADHD. This is because of my desire to read and study the scriptures. Not only that, but I’ve had the opportunity, on numerous occasions, to teach other service missionaries, as well as help younger kids with primary lessons. And finally, if I trust in the Lord, I know that I will be able to accomplish all that both he and I can do.
